PERCY VICTOR BECK

He enlisted 7 February 1914 in Chelsea, London, and was formerly Private 125 Royal Army Medical Corps. He embarked at Southampton aboard S.S. Empress Queen 17 March 1915 and disembarked Le Havre 18 March 1915 as part of the British Expeditionary Force. He joined the 1st/6th London Field Ambulance in the Field 30 July 1915. Was admitted to 1st/6th London Field Hospital 30 July 1915 suffering from influenza and discharged 4 August 1915 to the 1st/4th London Field Ambulance. He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 17 March 1915, and was killed in action whilst attached to the 1st/7th London Regiment.
Son of Spencer Nunn and Alice Jane (nee FRANCIS) BECK of Watford.
His parents married 1885 in the Lambeth, London, district. Alice died 10 December 1939 in Watford aged 82, and was buried 13 December in North Watford Cemetery; Spencer died 1942 in Watford aged 84, and was buried 4 June, also in North Watford Cemetery.
Percy was born 7 July 1892 in Catford, London, and attended Plassy Road School, Catford; then Alexandra School, Watford, from 20 May 1902 to 3 June 1906. He resided in London E.C.
On the 1901 Census, aged 8 he lived in Catford, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, a gents’ outfitters shop assistant aged 19, he lived in Axminster, Devon.
