THOMAS ROY CHANT

As he did not serve overseas, he has no medals, and died in Watford from pneumonia. He does not appear to have an entry on the Soldiers Died in the Great War dataset.

Son of Thomas Whitemore and Agnes Eveline (nee HILLS) CHANT of Watford; husband of Phyllis Mary (nee HORTON) CHANT of Watford.
His parents married 3 August 1882 at St Marylebone Parish Church, London. Thomas died 10 August 1927 in Watford aged 75, and was buried 13 August in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Agnes died 22 August 1934 in Watford aged 78, and was buried 25 August, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
Thomas was born 8 December 1891 in South Hampstead, London, and baptised 23 March 1892 at St Mark’s, Hamilton Terrace, Marylebone, London. He married 15 June 1918 at St Andrew’s, Watford. He played cricket for the University College School team and is mentioned in Wisden in the Great War. He was buried 12 November. Phyllis never remarried, and died 27 November 1973 in Worthing, Sussex, aged 81.

He has an entry in the National Probate Calendar.
On the 1901 Census, aged 9 he lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1911 Census, a warehouseman aged 19, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings.
