(WILLIAM) SIDNEY LAWRENCE GEEVES
Remembered with honour Thiepval Memorial: Pier and Face 13C.
He enlisted in London; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action. Unfortunately, Sidney’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
Son of Leonard Eglington and the late Ellen Mary (nee LINDFORD) GEEVES.
His parents married 26 December 1885 at St Luke’s, Victoria Docks, West Ham, Essex. Ellen died 1905 aged 42; Leonard died 1927 aged 64; both in the West Ham district.
Sidney was born 7 June 1889 in Bow, London, and baptised 4 August 1889 at St John’s, Hackney, London. He resided in Watford.
On the 1891 Census, aged 1 he lived in Bromley St Leonard, London, with his parents and no siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 11 he lived in Wood Green, Middx, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1911 Census, a grocer’s clerk aged 21, he was a boarder in North Finchley, Middx.
