RUPERT THOMAS BENNETT
Remembered with honour London Cemetery and Extension: Plot 9, Row A, Grave 11.
He enlisted in Watford; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action. Unfortunately, Rupert’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
Son of William Atkins and the late Alice Elizabeth (nee EDMONDS) BENNETT of Bedmond, Herts.
His parents married 1894 in the Hendon, Middx, district. Alice died 1916 in the Watford district aged 53; William died 7 March 1955 in Bedmond aged 89.
Rupert was born 1896 in Bedmond.
On the 1901 Census, a scholar aged 4 he lived in Bedmond, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, at school aged 14 he lived in Leavesden, Herts, with his parents and three siblings.
