Time spent in Watford

Watford 1940 to Date

I lived in Carpenders Park in 1940, and then 452 St Albans Road in 1959, and finally my current Address is ‘Kingswood’ North Watford.

My knowledge of Watford is limited, as at 82 my memory finds it difficult to remember dates, therefore, whilst I can remember places from 1940, the names that I mention may not necessary be in date order, for example my Wife who was born on the Kingswood estate, describes herself as a ‘Watfordian’,  but cannot remember the ‘Ford’ Agent ‘Norman Reeves’ which was next to Watford High Street Station, which I mentioned in a previous comment, however, I can still remember crossing their entrance with caution after leaving the station.

I therefore apologise in advance, for any confusion that I may cause about names of places that I mention, but can assure you that they did exist. For example I read that ‘Fine Fair’ was the first supermarket that occupied the ‘Odeon’ site, however, my memory was that it was ‘Caters’, which was purchased by ‘Fine Fair’. My future memories will mention places which may not be in date order.
