Leavesden

Information about red brick cottages

I’m looking for history, drawings, photos ? of the red brick cottages which stood, where my house now stands, on the corner of what is now Leveret Close and High Road Leavesden. The deeds to my house give an indication of their whereabouts and we’re still finding bits of red brick when digging the garden. Other than that we know nothing of what was here.
can you point us in the right dierection please.
I want to build a history including the old school house which I remember well
thank you

  • I lived at 90 High Road Leavesden from 1951 to 59 in a house built by my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather at the turn of the 19th / 20th century. I was shocked when I found that the houses I remember were all gone! The whole family lived there. The garden stretched all the way back to the North Orbital Road. I would love to hear what and when the houses were demolished. Our house was called Kentdene.

  • Can you enclose a map? I went to Leavesden Green school in the early 60’s and remember some red brick cottages somewhere.
