  • Lovely to hear all of these memories and getting my memories more attuned, there is no Mention of the Essoldo Cinema, written on the front in lights, looked like the Effoldo.

Had my motorcycle stolen from there one evening that must have been around the early 60s.

  • My Nan Jessie Tyrrell worked here for over 25 years and received a C M A 25 year award silver Cigarette box. I think it was between so time in the mid to late 30s through to sometime in the early 60s.
She lived in Watford after moving from Glasgow in Scotland sometime in the 1920s.
My Nan Died in 1966 when I was 10.
Unfortunately I don’t actually know what a CMA 25 year award actually is.
Maybe someone can give me some insight into this cinema during the 1930s 40s and 50s.
    Thanks
