A quick guide to how this site is organised

Welcome to Our Watford History – a website produced by Watford Museum, in conjunction with the Heritage Lottery Fund. This site provides a brief history of the town from the twelfth century to date, and a place for the community to share photographs and their memories of Watford.

Sections of the website

The site is organised into several sections…

  • OUR HISTORY – A brief overview of Watford’s past, where you can discover the restored tombs at St Mary’s Church, the Cassiobury estate and park, Watford Football Club, and life during The First World War including our online Roll of Honour. There’s also a celebration of the town’s diversity past and present.
  • OUR STORIES – Here’s where you’ll find personal stories, memories and photos of Watford. This is where your own contributions will appear – a place to share your memories and connect with our online community.
  • SPOKEN MEMORIES – Listen to audio recordings of local residents, as they remember life during the 1940s and 1950s.

You can use the links towards the top of every page to navigate around the sections. Have a look around the site and see what you can discover…

  • I have just found this page (8 August 2017). Is it still live?
