My name is Miriam; I was born in Pakistan. My family lives in Pakistan.  My mother was a home maker; she is a devoted mother and spends most of her time looking after her family and my father runs his hotel business and spends most of his time in the business.

I started primary school when I was five years old. I went there for four years after that I started secondary school.  My days at school were happy; I was an average student in class. I had many friends and I was enjoying my school life. I did not get chance to get further education as I got married.

I came to England in 1993 to join my husband, I felt very lonely and isolated.  I couldn’t speak English therefore it was difficult for me to make friends. Life was very hard.  I had my 1st child. This kept me busy and I started meeting with some of the young mums in my area.

Then two years later I had my 2nd child. My relationship with my husband was getting very difficult and we decided to separate and I moved to Watford where my sister was already well established.  I had to work and support my children; my sister helped me in this hard time.  Both of my children are in secondary school and are doing very well.

I have a full time job and work in residential home. I am still lone parent.  My main focus is to bring up my children well so they can look after them selves.
